Opportunities for SMEs in Oman Aviation Group highlighted

Muscat: The National Business Centre (NBC), which falls under the umbrella of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), organised recently Mashura event which underscored the available commercial opportunities in Oman Aviation Group in the presence of owners of Small and Medium Enterprises.
Organised at Riyada incubator, the event featured officials of Oman Aviation Group, which was established last year as a government holding company. All civil aviation companies that are co-owned by the government including Omani Air, Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), Omani Aviation Services Company and other companies, all fall under the group’s umbrella.
The group aims to effectively develop and manage government investments with infrastructure and services in the civil aviation sector and build key performance indicators and strategic, financial and economic planning for the group’s companies. The strategy of Oman Aviation Group focuses on maximising the capabilities of the aviation sector by working side by side with the tourism and logistics sectors.
Oman Aviation Group also aims to develop airport cities to enhance airport efficiency and expand associated activities. It also seeks to establish free zones at the Sultanate’s airports in an effort to boost foreign investment, increase sources of revenues, enhance trade exchange, and link the Sultanate to the production sources, making it a focal point for the world.
It should be noted that Mashura event consists of a series of workshops that focus on providing specialised business consultancy for the incubated companies and raise awareness on various topics related to entrepreneurship.
NBC is an initiative launched by Madayn at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) to offer promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.
Objectives of NBC comprise facilitating and supporting the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; building entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and providing business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.
