Muscat: Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and his accompanying delegation visited Qurun Shrimp Aquaculture Farm in Jalan Bani Bu Hassan South Al Sharqiya Governorate, as part of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
During this tour at the farm Fisheries Development Oman showcased how their aquaculture developments focus on sustainability, competitiveness, in-country value, supporting national food security objectives, creation of employment opportunities, and diversification of aquaculture sector production streams.
The president’s tour at the Shrimp Aquaculture Farm in Qurun included going through the different farming process stages starting from the hatchery, and nursery to the grow-out ponds. The farm includes 220 grow-out pods at 5000 metres squared each. The farm has great economic potential and a high impact on Oman’s fish production.
Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, expressed in a statement his happiness to visit the Sultanate of Oman, describing it as " fruitful."
Mwinyi said that his visit to Quroon shrimp farm is an opportunity to explore many areas of cooperation with the Oman Investment Authority, whether they are investments in Tanzania or Zanzibar in particular.
He also expressed his admiration for this farm and what he saw among many projects during his visit to the Sultanate of Oman. He stressed working with Oman to ensure the knowledge he acquired and the projects he visited in Zanzibar.
