Muscat: Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar will begin an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday.
Oman and Zanzibar share a strong and long-standing historical and cultural ties and the visit by Mwinyi is expected to further bolster the existing relations.
Ahead of the visit, the Diwan of Royal Court said, “The visit aims to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation in several fields and push these towards broader and more comprehensive horizons in the service of common interests and in order to achieve more growth, development and prosperity.
“During the visit, aspects of existing cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen these will be discussed to achieve the desired goals and aspirations of the two peoples.”
The visit of the Zanzibar President, it is hoped, will further spur the trade relations between the two nations.
In this context, it may be said, Oman Investment Authority plays a key role in facilitating investments in East Africa following the opening of its office in Tanzania in February 2015.
