Omani-Jordanian relations are deep-rooted: OCCI Chairman

Muscat: Reda bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said that the official visit of King Abdullah of Jordan to the Sultanate of Oman would enhance establishment of joint projects and establishment of relations between businessmen in both the countries.

It would activate the memoranda of understanding and agreements between them, he added.

He said that the Omani-Jordanian relations are deep-rooted and that the two countries enjoy partnership and investment potentials.

He said that statistics showed that the exchange of trade between the Sultanate of Oman and Jordan amounted to $160.6 million approximately in 2021 compared to $120.1 million in 2020.

The number of Jordanian companies registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion amounted to some 465 companies in which Jordan’s contribution amounted to over $1 billion in the various fields including trade, construction transport, services and industry among other sectors.

Speaking about the economic field, he said that there are ample potential of cooperation between the two countries which could be achieved through intensifying exchange of visits of businessmen between the two countries, organising more joint exhibitions and availing from the Jordanian side’s expertise in the private health sector and activation of cooperation in tourism field.

He called for organising promotional seminars on investment environment, incentives and available investment opportunities besides establishment of joint tourism projects – mainly in medical tourism and archaeological sites and signing more economic agreements supportive to investment cooperation between the two countries.
