Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,486.31 points, down by 0.16 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.55 per cent at 477.27 points.
Sembcorp Salalah, up 9.84 per cent, was the top gainer while National Biscuits, down 10 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 374 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.44 million, with more than 11.44 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 10 advanced, 16 declined, and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR32,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,147.06 points, down 0.27 per cent. Prices of National Bank Oman and Oman Arab Bank were up by 4 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful and Bank Nizwa were down by 8.81 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,195.69 points, up 0.19 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, Raysut Cement and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 7.6 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Prices of National Biscuits, Oman Chlorine and Gulf International Chemicals were down by 10 per cent, 9.65 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.47 per cent before closing at 1,613.72 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Al Suwadi Power, Muscat Desalination, Al Batinah Power and Al Maha Marketing were up by 9.84 per cent, 7.5 per cent, 4.51 per cent, 2.78 per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively. Prices of OIFC, National Gas, Ooredoo, Majan College and Renaissance Services were down by 3.18 per cent, 2.96 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 2.07 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.
