Qatari delegation briefed on Oman's environment conservation

Muscat: A Qatari delegation was briefed on the experience of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of environmental conservation.

"A delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in the sisterly State of Qatar was briefed today on the experience of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of environmental conservation, within the framework of the visit that it is currently undertaking and will last for several days," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.

His Excellency Dr Abdullah bin Ali Al Omari, Chairman of the Environment Authority, during his meeting with the delegation, stressed the importance of environmental cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar, pointing out that the two countries have made a great path in the development and prosperity of the environmental sector, pointing to the importance of exchanging experiences between specialists and stakeholders in the Environment Authority and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

His Excellency said that the Sultanate of Oman paid great attention to strengthening the environmental sector in Oman in line with the strategy for 2040, pointing out that this was embodied in the preparation of the Oman Environment Strategy, which includes three axes concerned with biodiversity, environmental quality and environmental economy.

During the meeting, His Excellency touched on the importance of supporting the green economy, the circular economy and eco-tourism.

The delegation visited a resource centre for the conservation of genetic resources to learn about the efforts and projects of the centre. It will also visit natural reserves, including the Qurum Nature Reserve in the Governorate of Muscat, the Centre for Rehabilitation and Propagation of Wildlife in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, the Al Saleel Natural Park in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah and the Turtle Reserve in Ras Al Jinz.
