Serb season begins in Dhofar Governorate

Muscat: The spring season, or as it is called locally, 'Serb' has begun in Dhofar Governorate from Wednesday, September 21, 2022 and will last till December 21, 2022.

According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), atmosphere of the Serb season is characterised by the brightness of the sun, moderate weather and low humidity after the fog has cleared and the air is clear, and flowers bloom, which attracts tourists to enjoy the picturesque nature, in addition to the calm waves of the sea.

The relevant government agencies organise various events during the season, most notably the International Iron Man event, which will be held tomorrow, Thursday, with the participation of more than 750 competitors from 78 countries.

This week, the 'Kashta Dhofar Photography Forum' was launched, organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, with the aim of enriching the Omani tourism and cultural movement, with the participation of about 50 photographers from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

Serb is considered one of the important economic seasons for farmers, fishermen and livestock breeders due to the seasonal agricultural harvest in mountainous and plain areas that depend on the autumn monsoon rains, the most important of which are maize, local beans and cucumbers, in addition to the increased production of honey and the availability of large quantities of fish with high nutritional value.
