Discussion on role of GCC legislative councils in cementing investments

Muscat: The Parliamentary and Foreign Relations Coordination Committee of the GCC Chairmen of Shura, National and Ummah Councils was held at Al Bustan Palace yesterday.

The 15th meeting was chaired by the Sultanate’s Yaqoob bin Mohammed Al Harthy, Deputy to the Chairman of Majlis Al Shura in the presence of the members.

The meeting discussed the agenda, including over 15 GCC proposals presented by the GCC legislative councils.

It was agreed to discuss the role of the GCC legislative councils in cementing the investments among the GCC states and the support of the national economies; the role of the GCC legislative councils on protection of the community values through the mass media and the social media and the role of the GCC legislative councils in supporting achievement of cyber security through artificial intelligence.

These issues would be presented at the 16th ordinary meeting of the GCC Chairmen of Shura, National and Ummah Councils for selection of one issue for which a seminar would be allocated.

The meeting also discussed a proposal on formation of a cooperation committee with parliaments of the Latin American countries and a proposal on submitting the final recommendations of the GCC joint seminars to the Supreme Council of the GCC.

The meeting also approved the agenda of the 16th Ordinary Meeting of the GCC Chairmen of Shura, National and Ummah Councils, which would be held on Wednesday and chaired by Khalid bin Hilal Al Mawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
