Muscat: The Environment Authority has released four eagles in Sireen Nature Reserve after they receiving necessary care.
"The Environment Authority , in cooperation with the Environment Society of Oman, was able to release four eagles in the Sireen Nature Reserve, after receiving the necessary care at the Authority's breeding center in the Wilayat of Barka," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
This release coincides with the programme of the workshop "Conservation and Protection of Eagles in the Sultanate of Oman", organised by the Environment Authority in cooperation with the Environment Society of Oman and the Disney Conservation Fund, to clarify the important environmental services provided by eagles that directly benefit humans.
The seminar aimed at the importance of conducting surveys and studies, and forming a working group of stakeholders and volunteers to conserve and protect eagles and birds of prey in the Sultanate of Oman.
The authority has placed satellite tracking devices on the eagles, in addition to ferret rings in order to track them and study their lifestyle and behavior.
