Over OMR 5 million compensation paid for traffic accidents in Oman

Muscat: The total compensation paid by Oman's insurance companies for traffic accidents during the second quarter of 2022 amounted to more than OMR 5 million.

According to data published by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) for the second quarter of 2022, the total number of minor and serious traffic accidents is about 19,335, including 15,526 minor accidents and 3,809 serious accidents.

The data showed that the total number of claims for compensation during the same period of 2022 amounted to 22,433, including 16,219 claims for minor accidents (material damage), 2,934 claims for serious accidents (material damage), 3,197 claims for compensation for serious accidents (injuries and treatment expenses), and 83 claims for serious accidents (deaths).
