We Love Oman: Family-friendly Al Amerat

The wilayat of Al Amerat borders Muscat, Baushar, Muttrah and Quriyat. What was once just an empty expanse is now a developed place with villas and commercial buildings along with agricultural villages and other attractions. Al Hajer, Jahlout, Wadi Al Meeh, Wadi Al Sireen and Nahda are some of the important villages.
The wilayat of Al Amerat has several mosques and important landmarks with Wadi Sireen Nature Preserve, Jebel Saqif and the red ochre quarry being the significant ones. Al Khafaiji mosque, Al Midam, Al Harah and Ain Fuad are some of the famous mosques. Despite being 20 minutes over the mountain from Bousher, spacious lands cloistered between towering mountains, make Al Amerat feel remote and tranquil. Al Amerat’s affordability, accessibility, convenient hypermarkets, clinics, mosques, schools, and lovely parks have drawn families with children, giving it a wholesome, family-friendly feel.

The Muscat Municipality is currently working on Al Nahdha walkway in the Wilayat of Al-Amerat in Muscat. The project comprises a walkway and a bicycle path, both 1,200 metres in length. The 5-metre wide walkway and the 3-metre wide bicycle path are separated by a 2-metre wide landscaping. The project also includes some sites designated for mobile vendors and paved parking lots. The place will be lit by 70 lighting poles. The project is an attempt to exploit public spaces with projects that promote sports and physical health, and to beautify the area in accordance with modern concepts in city management and planning, while taking into account the need to accommodate mobile vendors.
