Meeting discusses government’s digital transformation programme

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology on Wednesday held a meeting with governors to discuss a range of topics, namely the government’s digital transformation programme and activating the governorates’ digital transformation configurations.

The meeting came within the framework of achieving the goals of the National Programme for Digital Economy and the executive plan for the government’s Digital Transformation Programme (2021-2025) approved by the Council of Ministers.

Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’wali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said that 26% of the digital transformation plan (to be completed by 2025) has been achieved, including 80% of all-important services for the end-beneficiary.

The meeting came up with several recommendations, particularly the importance of each governorate reclassifying services and documenting their procedures to streamline them in accordance with administrative changes after restructuring the State’s Administrative Apparatus and applying governance.

Another recommendation stresses the importance of cooperation in implementing the approach of mutual interests for integration in the use of centralized digital solutions and services.

Further, the meeting underscored the importance of empowering and sharpening the capabilities of the digital transformation team and coordinating with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology before conducting new digital projects and initiatives to ensure compatibility.
