
Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,584.61 points, down by 0.44 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.28 per cent at 492.98 points.
SMN Power Holding, up 20 per cent, was the top gainer while, Dhofar Generating, down 7.69 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman Fisheries were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 529 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.18 million, with more than 7.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 28 traded securities, 10 advanced, 8 declined, and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR796,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR724,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR72,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,326.74 points, down 0.46 per cent. There were no gainers for the day. Prices of Global Financial Investments, Oman United Insurance and Bank Muscat were down by 2.94 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,527.81 points, up 0.44 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Gulf Mushroom Products, Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries were up by 3.64 per cent, 2.92 per cent, 2.61 per cent, 2.48 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively. Jazeera Steel Products was the only loser for the day down by 2 per cent.
Services Index was down by 0.23 per cent before closing at 1,680.59 points. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Oman National Engineering, Al Jazeera Services and OIFC were up by 20 per cent, 3.64 per cent, 1.77 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Al Maha Marketing, National Gas and Oman Telecom were down by 7.69 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 0.43 per cent respectively.
