Muscat: A number of events and activities will be organised during the coming period to welcome the spring and winter seasons in Dhofar Governorate.
According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with all partners and relevant governmental and private agencies in the Governorate of Dhofar, is organising a number of quality events and programs during the coming period to welcome the spring season, which contributes to making the governorate a tourist destination for all seasons.
Khalid bin Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar, said that the Ministry, in cooperation with the Dhofar Municipality and the Oman Cycling Association , will organize the Salalah Cycling Tour and the mountain race in mid-September, in addition to the Iron Man event dedicated to athletes during the period from 22nd to 24th September.
The Director General of the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism said that the ministry worked to launch a promotional campaign for the Dhofar Khareef Tourism Season 2022 by supporting many youth marketing initiatives, hosting many influencers on social media, as well as communicating with partners to open direct flights to the Dhofar Governorate.
"The ministry will organise a special event for photographers from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman in cooperation with companies specialised in the field of photography, stressing the ministry’s interest and focus on incentive tourism and conferences in cooperation with partners during the end of the Khareef season this year and the beginning of the “Serb” spring season at the end of this month, " Al Abri added.
In the heritage sector, Al-Abri indicated that the ministry recently proposed many historical monuments for investment and benefit from its components, most notably Kot Al-Askar, Kot Hamran, Rakhyut Fort and Al Baleed Archaeological Park waterfront shops, and the work is underway to hand them over for operators.
For the winter season, the Directorate General of the directorate confirmed that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will launch the second edition of the Empty Quarter Festival in January 2023, in addition to the frankincense season event in Samharam Archaeological Park in October 2022.
