New charges to disconnect/reconnect water services gets approval of Majlis Al Shura Office

Muscat: The Majlis Al Shura Office reviewed on Wednesday the letter of the Council of Ministers on a number of annual ministerial reports for 2021 which included a summary of the achievements during 2021, the key projects executed, the future strategic plans and a number of statistics.

The Office of Majlis Al Shura decided referral of the same to the concerned committee and the technical office for review and to consider whether they conform to Article 55 of the Law of the Council of Oman.

The meeting also reviewed the reply of the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning on transfer of the applications the loans and housing assistance programme to ‘Surouh Initiative’.

The reply stated that procedures for offering three sites for investors have completed and work is underway for completion of the procedures for other sites taking into account allocation of part of the housing units of the projects of the programme for housing assistance Surooh Projects.

The Majlis Al Shura Office also reviewed during the meeting the reply of the Council of Ministers on imposing a fee for disconnection and reconnection of the water service.

The reply of the Council of Ministers stated that that the issue has been discussed in one of the meetings of the Council of Ministers which approved amending the charges to be OMR7.500 for each of them.

The Majlis Al Shura Office reviewed the reply of the Minister of Education on establishment of 76 government schools in the various governorates of the Sultanate. The reply of the ministry stated that the investment agreement to be executed is for establishment of 43 government schools.

The discussions were held in the 16 th regular meeting of Majlis Al Shura Office, chaired by Khalid bin  Hilal Al Mawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura in the presence of the members of the Office of Majlis and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura.
