MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,585.3 points, up by 0.19 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.06 per cent at 489.56 points.

Gulf International Chemicals, up 9.89 per cent, was the top gainer while Voltamp Energy, down 5.17 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while National Gas were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 918 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.26 million, with more than 14.06 million shares changing hands. Out of 52 traded securities, 21 advanced, 14 declined, and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR365,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR215,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR150,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,351.08 points, up 0.17 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful, Oman Arab Bank, National Bank Oman and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 3.66 per cent, 3.37 per cent, 2.5 per cent, 1.89 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively. Prices of Bank Dhofar, Takaful Oman, Oman United Insurance and Oman & Emirates Investment were down by 3.57 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.72 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,518.98 points, down 0.23 per cent. Prices of Gulf International Chemicals, National Aluminium, Galfar Engineering and A'Saffa Foods were up by 9.89 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Fisheries, Gulf Mushroom Products and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 5.17 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 2.52 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.97 per cent before closing at 1,675.1 points. Prices of Sharqiyah Desalination, Dhofar Generating, Sembcorp Salalah, Renaissance Services and Oman Telecom were up by 9.17 per cent, 9.09 per cent, 5.71 per cent, 2.38 per cent and 2.22 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, Phoenix Power, Oman National Engineering and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.27 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 0.92 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively.
