MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,576.76 points, down by 0.28 per cent from previous close.

The Sharia Index ended up by 0.19 per cent at 489.25 points. Al Anwar Investment, up 9.33 per cent, was the top gainer while Gulf International Chemicals, down 9 per cent were net buyers, was the top loser.

Shares of Ahli Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while A'Saffa Foods were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 853 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.7 million, with more than 24.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded securities, 18 advanced, 16 declined, and 16 remained unchanged. At the session, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR24,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,338.96 points, down 0.2 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, DIDIC, Taageer Finance, Oman & Emirates Investment and Global Financial Investments were up by 9.33 per cent, 5 per cent, 4.3 per cent, 3.53 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively. Prices of United Finance, National Bank Oman, Bank Nizwa and Bank Muscat were down by 4.35 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,534.19 points, up 0.28 per cent. Prices of A'Saffa Foods, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium and Voltamp Energy were up by 7.86 per cent, 7.32 per cent, 6.25 per cent, 6.02 per cent and 4.51 per cent respectively. Prices of Gulf International Chemicals, Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 9 per cent, 2.49 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,658.99 points. Prices of National Gas, Muscat Desalination and Phoenix Power were up by 2.96 per cent, 2.7 per cent and 2.27 per cent respectively. Prices of Majan College, Sharqiyah Desalination, Oman National Engineering, Renaissance Services and Al Batinah Power were down by 8.23 per cent, 6.03 per cent, 2.68 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 2.33 per cent respectively.
