Working Women’s Second Arab Forum stresses digital empowerment for entrepreneurs

Salalah: Digital empowerment of working women and female entrepreneurs took centre-stage in recommendations issued at the conclusion, here today, of the Working Women’s Second Arab Forum.

Organised by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the Arab Labour Organization (ALO), the forum was attended by 170 participants from Oman and abroad.

The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Labour Undersecretary Shaikh Nasr Amer Al Hosni.

The recommendations laid emphasis on achieving equality between men and women in terms of ‘digital inclusion’ of the fair sex. This entails drafting a legal framework that secures the rights of entrepreneurs (and working women) within the context of digital economy.

The forum also recommended the ‘re-qualification’ of the Arab workforce, with special attention to working women, to help address the challenges imposed by artificial intelligence (AI) and technological revolution. This is in addition to developing the system of statistics and social-type-oriented indices with a view to evaluating policies and programmes to enhance women’s presence in the digital economy sector.
