Salalah: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has organised the second edition of a business dialogue titled “Tourism Opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Dhofar”.
The opening session was held under the auspices of Halima Rashid Al Zar’ee, Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED).
The session discussed promising sectors available for SMEs in the Governorate of Dhofar, challenges and incentives aimed at empowering SMEs, entrepreneurs and investors. It covered scopes for funding and the extent to which the SMEs are ready to take up ventures.
The session also touched on opportunities that may constitute projects for SMEs in sectors of foodstuff, adventure tourism, ecotourism, health tourism, housing, transport, electronic applications in tourism, cosmetics and heritage. Emphasis was laid on the sustainability of such businesses, so that they could run throughout the year.
