Muscat: Times of Oman Inter-School Quiz (English) and Al Shabiba – Musabakat Bayn Madaris, will be held this year too with the approval of Ministry of Education.
Registrations for the event have already begun, the finals of which will be held on Friday, 28th October (English and Saturday, 29th October 2022 (for Arabic.)
It may be mentioned that the event which began in 1996, is by far the largest educational event in Oman.
The Arabic quiz, Al Shabiba – Musabakat Bayn Madaris, was introduced for the first time in Oman in 2019.
It was organised for the students of all private schools in Oman and was extremely well received with an overwhelming participation of 3,800+ students. This initiative provided great exposure to Omani students and an appropriate platform to showcase their academic prowess and overall brilliance.
This year, the event is being organised and managed by Orbit Events Management (part of Orbit Leading Projects LLC), an Omani SME.
Orbit has created a niche for itself in events industry, especially social events.
“Times of Oman Quiz is fondly awaited each year by the students in Oman. In 2019, when the Arabic quiz was introduced, we found great enthusiasm among Omani/ Arabic students in all private schools.
They have great IQ and impressive presence of mind, which are important qualities at quiz events. Being the first mega event for the student community, post pandemic, we hope to have much larger level of participation in both English and Arabic formats of the event. We are truly delighted to be able to present this value-added event again,” said Ramesh, CEO of Orbit Events.

“It is absolutely delightful to see the Times of Oman quiz back. Knowledge shapes the modern world and initiatives like this help shape citizens for the future world. This quiz and Oman are close to my heart, so it’s always a sense of excitement for me to be there and host this quiz,” said Giri.
To conduct the Arabic Quiz, a dynamic young Omani, Quiz Master Faiz Ibrahim Al Mamari was introduced in 2019 who won everyone’s heart.
Faiz is a certified coach, trainer, author and an award-winning public speaker, with a great sense of humour.
His stage presence and chemistry with children and audience will make the Arabic Quiz dear to all once again.
“I’m so excited to once again present the Arabic Quiz. The questions will be based on global general knowledge, with a special focus on Arab countries, especially Oman. I would like to ask all those who will be coming forward for the first time to start developing the good habit of reading. There will be different rounds to make the format of the quiz highly engaging and interesting for all. I am very confident that Omani students are creative and have a lot of capabilities and skills and they are ready to shine and succeed,” said Faiz, brimming with confidence.
Talking about additional elements being introduced this year to make quizzing even more fun, Ramesh said, “We will be launching a dedicated bilingual event microsite. This microsite will have mock quizzes in English/ Arabic every week for students.
We hope these mock quizzes on our microsite will help participants develop better understanding of the quiz, have fun, practice and better their chances of winning.”
“We request students, schools, teachers and parents to ensure high level of participation, Any number of teams (2 students in each team) in Junior/ Senior category may register,” Ramesh said.

Prelims will be organised between 15th and 20th Oct. Mega Prelims are scheduled for Wednesday, 26th Oct in Muscat. Finals are scheduled on the 28th and 29th October 2022 for English and Arabic Quiz, respectively at City Amphitheater, Qurm.
