Muscat: Omani singing sensation Haitham Mohammed Rafi will open the show at Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana’s concert on October 26.
Khurrana will perform live at the first-ever MTV India Unplugged concert in Muscat at the Qurum Amphitheatre.
MTV India Unplugged, which is renowned for hosting the best musical Indian talent and artists, is making its entry into Muscat with Khurrana. Rafi, who shot to Oman-India fame after winning the Indian talent show, Dil Hai Hindustani telecast on Star Plus, is currently very popular in the teen musical circles in Oman and is a much-sought after singer.
He is slowly emerging as one of the biggest hit singers Oman has produced so far.
Rafi, whose musical interest was sparked at a very early age, began to develop an interest in Bollywood movies and songs. In 2012, he won the title of Muscat Icon and from then on his stardom began to rise.
Being a Bollywood enthusiast with a great interest in being a playback singer, Rafi, who was propelled by his mother, got a break to be part of an international show in India, which was seeking foreign contestants who sing in Hindi.
He was selected for the television auditions from among 1,000 plus singers and invited to India.
He was the first to be selected for the top 12. Although he got eliminated, but as a wild card entry, he was back in the show, Dil Hai Hindustani, and before he knew it, stormed into the finale.
First among the five finalists, Rafi shot to the top of the list with the highest votes from all over the world and was declared the winner of Dil Hai Hindustani.
From then onwards, he has become a toast of the music-loving Omani community, especially among the younger segment for whom he is a musical star.
Rafi will serenade music lovers at the City Amphitheatre before the focus shifts to the main star of the MTV Unplugged concert, Khurrana. “I am excited to perform at the Qurum Amphitheatre,” Rafi said.
