Konya: Oman’s weightlifter Amer Al Khanjari bagged silver in the 89 kg category in the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya.
Amer lifted 193 kg in clean and jerk on Sunday. He also lifted a record 156 kg in the snatch among 12 competitors at Tuyap hall in Konya.
Oman’s national shooting team opened the preliminary round qualification for (Shozen skeet) shooting on Sunday.
The first day of qualifiers consisted of three rounds with each round having 25 points. In the men’s competition, shooter Nagmosh Al Hatali scored 74 points among 35 shooters. Yasir Al Nasri finished with 71 points and Mohamed Al Gharbi earned 68 points.
In the women’s competition, shooter Fatima Al Sulaimi finished with 59 points. The shooting competition will continue on Monday with another two rounds for 50 points. The top 8 shooters of the two rounds will qualify for the final round.
On the other hand, the Oman national swimming team concluded their participation in 200m freestyle. Issa Al Adawi achieved a time of 2.00.07 minutes among 19 competitors.
