Muscat: The deep tropical depression over the Arabian Sea has weakened and is now classified as a tropical depression.

"The latest satellite images and analyses of the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre show the classification has been reduced from a deep tropical depression to a tropical depression," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.

Aisha Bint Juma Al Qassimi, a meteorologist at the Civil Aviation Authority(CAA), said, "We noticed a separation in the axis of rotation due to the activity of the monsoon, which led to movement to the northeast near the Indo-Pakistani coasts, and there are other reasons that led to the change of weather."

"During the coming hours, there are two possibilities for the weather situation, either it will vanish in the Arabian Sea, or the situation will remain for a longer period near the Indian-Pakistani coasts, with the possibility of further weakening or becoming active again," she added.
