Muscat: In celebration of Omani Women’s Day - the Majan Hiking Group recently organized a ‘women’s only’ hiking trip to Saa’l village in the Muscat Governorate.
Eng. Asia Al Aamri, the team leader of the hiking group said: “We organized this event as a celebration of Omani Women’s Day. The team consisted of 22 women from different nationalities and was open to beginners as well. The trip allowed us to enjoy the splendid scenery in the beautiful village of Saa’l in Bousher, as well as gave us the opportunity to take pictures of the unique architecture and nature of the region.”
She elaborated: "To ensure the success of the event, we has briefed all the participants with safety and security guidelines, as well as provided them with instructions related to the environment and public property through an advertisement under the theme “because we care”, before the event. We also ensured that all participants strictly adhered to the rules and regulations of the event.”
Faiza Bint Mubarak Al Akhzami, the assistant team leader said: “The hike started on Saturday at 3:30 pm. The participating women were extremely special as they weren’t competitive; and only wanted to have a good time while exercising. Women-centric events of this nature are rare in the Sulta-nate, and we hope to see more of such initiatives. In celebrating Omani Women’s day, we also gave the participants gifts as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement.”
