Muscat: A jewellery shop has been raided by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Al Dhahirah Governorate for tampering with gold prices.
"The Consumer Protection Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate was able to seize a shop selling gold that tampered with prices. This comes within the framework of the efforts made by the authority in the various governorates of the Sultanate in following up and monitoring the markets, and curbing malpractices done by some suppliers, " CPA said in a statement.
The Department received a report about a shop selling gold in the governorate manipulating prices while calculating the total price of gold, which includes workmanship and the price per gram in addition to value added tax. The Department verified the authenticity of the report, as the judicial police officers went to the shop and found out that the information contained in the report was correct. Accordingly, the necessary measures were taken against the shop.
