Medical response team gears up  to meet with weather situation

Muscat: The Medical Response and Public Health Sector affirmed its readiness to deal with the expected weather situation on Tuesday and the day after, by preparing a plan to ensure the continuity of the work of health institutions and the provision of services in the affected governorates and areas.

Dr Rashid bin Hamed Al Badi, Director of the Emergency Management Centre at the Ministry of Health, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that health institutions in the governorates to be affected by the weather situation have been directed to take appropriate measures and provide all health services through the presence of medical personnel, medicines and health supplies and to intervene and deal quickly with emergencies.

He added that the centre has also directed health institutions to deal with power outages or malfunctions, water interruptions or their entry into the institution and leaks, in addition to providing the institutions with sufficient manpower in cooperation with other sectors if necessary.

The National Committee for Emergency Management said in a statement: “The committee directed the activation of sub-committees in the governorates of Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Musandam to enhance their readiness for the potential impacts of the expected rains.”
