Pakistan shares glimpses into anti-polio campaign

Muscat: Polio workers in Pakistan are fighting tooth and nail to help the country to become polio-free.

The campaign against Polio started across Pakistan on April 22. Millions of children under the age of five will be vaccinated against the dangerous polio virus during the current National Immunization Campaign. 260, 000 polio workers have already set out to vaccinate children all over Pakistan.

In this regard, Pak Fights Polio, the official Twitter account of the Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative, has recently shared some of the pictures of their heroes who are willing to travel the length and breadth of the country showing their dedication towards the cause.

“Not all heroes wear capes! Our super woman, area supervisor Khalida Nasreen overlooks all obstacles and performs her duty with unwavering dedication as she rides her bike from one house to the other in the sweltering heat of Orangi, Sindh, during the ongoing campaign against polio,” Pak Fights Polio tweeted.

In other pictures, campaign workers could be seen riding on horses to reach out to people in remote areas while some are seen climbing trees chasing children to give them the drops.
