Muscat: The electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman increased by the end of April 2022 by 0.3 percent to 11,284.1 GW/Hour compared to 11,245.7 GW/hour during the same period in 2021.
The statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that Dhofar Governorate has registered an increase of 7.3 percent in the total generation of electricity to reach 1.229.3 GW/Hour compared to 1.145.3 GW/Hour by end of April 2021.
Al Wusta Governorate registered a decrease in the total generation of electricity by 41.7 percent ( 126.7 GW/Hour compared to the same period in 2021 which saw a total generation of electricity of 217.4 GW/Hour.
The net electricity generation of the Sultanate up to end of April 2022, which included the purchases of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the purchases of Rural Areas Electricity Company, amounted to 10,927.2 GW/Hour compared to the same period in 2021 of which net production stood at 10,872.5 GW/Hour , an increase of 0.5 percent.
The bulk of the net generation of electricity was registered in the Governorates of North Al Batinah, South al Batinah and Al Dhahirah, where the net generation stood by end of April 2022 at 6,827.8 GW /Hour compared to the same period in 2021, which saw net generation of 6,691.2 GW /Hour, an increase of 2.0 percent.
North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates came in the second place in terms of net generation.
