Over 300 rescue calls dealt with in past week: CDAA

Muscat: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) has dealt with over 300 rescue calls from various governorates since the beginning of rains across Oman last week.

Colonel  Abdullah bin Saleh Al Najashi, Director General of Civil Defence at the CDAA said that the  Authority dealt with 386 calls while teams of the Authority dealt with 34 calls from people trapped inside their cars when they tried to cross flooded wadis as well as from those trapped within their homes due to floodwater.

There were 12 drowning incidents at wadis and beaches and the CDAA managed to rescue 40 people. The fire incidents in all governorates amounted to 74, he added. Ambulance teams dealt with and provided emergency medical care in 254 cases.

The CDAA on Wednesday reaffirmed that whoever risked their lives and the lives of others by actions such as diving / jumping or swimming at the wadis and who deliberately cross flowing wadis or who try to stand at unsafe high places would be subjected to legal accountability and actions.
