Tourist sites shut across Oman due to weather conditions

Muscat: Keeping in mind the ongoing heavy rainfall across the Sultanate, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) on Sunday took the decision to temporarily close all tourist sites across Oman.

The decision was taken due to the large number of reports of accidents as well as indifference shown by people towards warnings and instructions.

Rains continue across Oman

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that heavy rainfall was recorded across several parts of Oman today.

In the latest weather update, the CAA said: "The movement and activity of convective thunderstorms continues over Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, with chances of rain of varying intensity. Clouds of different heights flow over South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with chances of rain. Thunderstorms continue over parts of Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah and South Al Batinah, with the continuation of rains of varying intensity.”

Repair of water line underway

The Omani Company for Water and Sanitation Services in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate dealt today with one of the water pipelines in the wilayat being affected due to the heavy flow of Wadi Al Batha.

Engineer Jassim bin Muhammad Al Zari, in charge of the operations director of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, said: “According to the emergency plan, after one of the water pipes was affected, the water supply in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali was diverted through the other reservoir, which will help to feed the affected areas, but with less water pressure.”

He added that some areas in the state will witness limited service interruptions, which requires rationalizing consumption during the reform period.
