Aqabat Hashir closed amid heavy rains

Muscat: Aqabat Hashir has been closed until further notice for visitors of Khareef Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar.

A statement issued online by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said: "For the sake of public safety and due to heavy rains and erosion of dust, Aqabat Hashir in Dhofar Governorate will be closed from today until further notice.”

The importance of Aqabat Hashir is that many visitors take the Aqabat Hashir Road, which is one of the tourist attractions in the Governorate of Dhofar, to see the strange magnetic phenomenon on the Tawi Attir Road in the Wilayat of Mirbat, located 60 kilometres east of Salalah.
