Muscat: The Royal Oman Police seized an expatriate worker on charges of burning large piles of wild wood for the purpose of producing packed charcoal, in South Al Batinah Governorate.
The Environment Authority said: "The Environment Department in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, has arrested expatriate workers who were burning large piles of wild wood for the purpose of producing packed charcoal ready for distribution and sale in the markets. Legal procedures are completed against them and the seizures are confiscated."
The authority calls upon all farm owners and owners not to cooperate or contract with this kind of activity in order to preserve the wildlife and avoid legal accountability.
