MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4116.13 points, up by 0.18 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended up by 0.3 per cent at 454.86 points. Dhofar Generating, up 5.26 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman REIT Fund, down 4.11 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank Oman were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 306 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.26 million, with more than 9.06 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, 11 advanced, 14 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR369,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR210,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR158,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6588.74 points, up 0.17 per cent. Prices of DIDIC, Takaful Oman, Bank Nizwa and Sohar International Bank Ahli Bank were up by 4.62 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.15 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively. Prices of Muscat Finance, Al Anwar Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 1.47 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.82 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5767.29 points, down 0.29 per cent. Oman Fisheries was the only gainer up by 2.91 per cent. Prices of Construction Materials, National Biscuits, Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel Products and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 3.9 per cent, 2.26 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.73 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.13 per cent before closing at 1576.19 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Sharqiyah Desalination, OIFC, Barka Desalination and Oman National Engineering were up by 5.26 per cent, 1.77 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.42 per cent, and 0.95 per cent respectively. Prices of National Gas, Sembcorp Salalah and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.07 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively.
