Two Indian engineers found dead in Dhofar

Muscat: The bodies of two missing Indian engineers were recovered from the Wilayat of Thumrait in Dhofar Governorate, after a search that lasted for six days.

The Royal Oman Police said that the Indians were employed as engineers for a local telecommunications company and were on a work assignment for one of the telecom towers in the Al Shasr Prosecution  related to the Wilayat of Thumrait on June 28, 2022, and contact with them was lost at 10 am on June 29, 2022.

“The Royal Air Force of Oman, the operations wing of the Royal Army and the Royal Oman Police, with the participation of citizens from  Al-Shasr, Al-Hashman and Metin Prosecutions, searched for them until a call was received from one of the citizens yesterday about finding them in the desert of Al-Hashman Prosecution. The bodies were transferred to Sultan Qaboos Hospital in the City of Salalah.”

The ROP also added that the reason for their loss may be due to the breakdown of their vehicle or being stuck in the sand, and they were unable to contact anyone after that, because there is no communication network in that area.
