Muscat: President Abdel Fattah el Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt arrived here today on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman lasting two days.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Egyptian President. When the jet of President el Sisi touched ground at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming him and wishing him and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.
Along with His Majesty the Sultan, the Egyptian President was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu'mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance (Head of the Mission of Honour), Abdullah bin Nassir Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic Egypt and its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman and members of the Mission of Honour, as well as members of the Egyptian Embassy in Muscat.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan and the Egyptian President proceeded to the reception hall, passing through two rows of the guard of honour of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO).
After a short stay, the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and his guest, President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, left the Royal Airport heading to Al Alam Palace for an official reception ceremony.
Before the arrival of the main vehicle of the motorcade at Al Alam Palace, a squadron of cavalry lined the two sides of the road heading to the gate of the palace.
Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Abdel Fattah el Sisi at the entrance of Al Alam Palace, the RGO band played a welcoming tune to the accompaniment of trumpets, as the motorcade entered the courtyard of Al Alam Palace.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied the President of Egypt to the Dais of Honour where the National Anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt was played, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Egyptian President, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay. On his turn, President Abdel Fattah el Sisi shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, Chairman of the State Council, ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the hall where they took Arabian coffee.
President Abdel Fattah el Sisi is accompanied during his visit by Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister, Major General Staff Ahmed Mohammed Ali,Chief of the President's Office, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Major General Abbas Kamel, Chief of the Intelligence Service, Major General Mohsen Abdel Nabi, Director of the President's Office, Major GeneralStaffMustafa Shawkat, Commander of the Republican Guard Forces and Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman.
The visit will explore various areas that serve the joint interests and meet aspirations of their peoples. It will also discuss a number of topics of concern to the two sides in light of the regional and international developments.
