Muscat: Real Madrid Academy in the Sultanate of Oman held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday its first press conference to unveil its technical programme and details of the local and foreign international camps and tournaments.
The press conference was attended by Asila Salim Al Samsami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion, and officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Oman Football Association (OFA).
During the conference, an overview on the Real Madrid Academy was presented. The academy was established in 1997 and is distributed over five continents with 449 academies in 82 countries around the world, benefiting more than 62,000 children. The academy provides a unique experience in international sports life through football.
Carlos Albert, representative of Real Madrid CF, gave a visual presentation during which he talked about the mission of the Real Madrid Academy in demonstrating its commitment to solidarity through its social activity in order to protect and preserve the historical legacy of the club, promote the values inherent in sport, encourage the inclusive education of children and young people, as well as promoting the social integration of groups in society.
On his part, Khamis Al Ajmi, Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Directors, said: “Signing with the Real Madrid Foundation to open the first international football academy of the Spanish Club Real Madrid in the Sultanate of Oman will open up great prospects for the Sultanate of Oman at international fora and highlight Oman’s potentials for investments, as well as attracting sports legends to visit and promote for Oman.
Asila Salim Al Samsami, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion, said in a statement: “We seek, through this distinguished partnership with the largest sports clubs enjoying global popularity, to create a major qualitative leap in the sector of attracting investments in this field in the Sultanate of Oman, and to promote for “Invest in Oman” programme and for the Sultanate of Oman as a leading investment destination in the international sports events in which Real Madrid CF participates”.
She stressed that this sports partnership, which emerges from “Invest in Oman” programme, is an important addition and investment model.
Besides this partnership’s effective contribution in the sports sector, it will also create a distinguished investment milieu through initiatives, innovative and strategic projects that form an additional value reflecting positively on diverse economic aspects in the Sultanate of Oman. -ONA
