Boeing 737 Max issue 'a global challenge' - Oman Aviation Group chairman

Muscat: Oman Air is waiting for the American aircraft manufacturing company Boeing to announce when 737 aircraft can be reused, according to the Chairman of Oman Aviation Group.

In an online statement, Oman Aviation Group quoted CEO Mustafa Al Hinai: "The suspension of all Boeing 737 Max aircraft operations is a global challenge that all airlines that deal with Boeing are facing.

"Oman Air is still waiting for the latest confirmation from Boeing, regarding the re-operation date of these types of aircraft."

A total of 630 flights have been cancelled by Oman Air since the company announced the suspension of all Boeing 737 Max airplanes.

On March 12, Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation decided to suspend all Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operating into and out of the country’s airports until further notice.

The news came in the wake of two fatal crashes in the space of a few months involving Max jets. One involving the Indonesian low-cost airline, Lion Air, while the other incident involved Ethiopian Airlines. Both crashes claimed the lives of all on board.
