Muscat: An official delegation from China Media Group (CMG) visited the headquarters of Muscat Media Group (MMG) yesterday, 8th June, to discuss the scope of cooperation and exchange of news reports between the two groups.
The visit and the agenda of the meeting was aimed at promoting cooperation between the two countries in economic and investment sectors and promotion of the Sultanate’s tourism landmarks in China.
The Chinese delegation was represented by the regional office of China Media Group for the Middle East. The delegation was headed by Chang Lee, executive director of the Regional Office and included a number of officials from the group.
Ahmed Essa Al Zedjali, Chief Executive Officer of MMG and Editor-in-Chief of Al Shabiba, represented the MMG.
The meeting was attended by Ali bin Hamad Al Rahbi, General Manager for Institutional and Government Communication in MMG, Hamda Al Balushi, Manager of Shabiba FM and Khalid Orabi, Business Development Manager of MMG.
Stressing the significance of cooperation and exchange of news between the two groups, Ahmed Essa Al Zedjali, CEO of MMG, said the move would significantly reflect in the bilateral relations between the two countries. Exchange of news reports, video footage and photos generated by the two groups would go a long way in facilitating positive ties between the two countries.
Praising the good relations between the two countries, Al Zedjali pointed out that media could play a significant role in highlighting economic and investment opportunities in both the countries. It could also disseminate information on tourism sites and landmarks in both the countries, thus facilitating tourist traffic between the two countries. In this context, he said the media could encourage the Chinese tourists to visit the Sultanate, particularly in view of the oncoming winter season.
Al Zedjali said the MMG would provide news about the investment opportunities in the Sultanate, either in special economic zones or in the industrial estates, in a bid to attract Chinese investors.
He further said MMG has made its presence felt in the local and regional media, adding that it is the largest media group in the Sultanate with diverse media channels, including FM radio stations and platforms in the social media which reaches 3.6 million viewers on a daily basis and represents over 50% of the media market in the Sultanate.
Executive Director of the regional office of China Media Group (ME) spoke on the media potentials of her group and its worldwide reach. She said that her group has tens of thousands of media persons who would provide MMG with similar reports on latest news and developments in China and cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
The two sides agreed on the release of such news and reports in various channels mainly the Arabic speaking channels CCTV, CCTV+ and AMSP.
Following the meeting, CEO of Muscat Media Group accompanied the delegation on a tour of the MMG, where the delegation acquainted itself with the equipment used for live broadcast of programmes.
