Keep this in mind the next time you're filling fuel at a station

Muscat: Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has issued a warning to residents in Oman, advising them to follow proper safety procedures when stopping to fill their cars at fuel stations in the country.
In a video uploaded to PACDA’s official Twitter account, a uniformed police officer can be seen advising residents to switch off their engines on coming to a halt at filling stations.
“Fires in fuel stations are among the most dangerous, so to prevent yourself from causing one or being harmed by them, follow these procedures,” he said. “Stop your car engine and do not use the phone.
“Do not smoke, monitor your car throughout the filling process, and in case of any leakages, warn the station's employees,” he added. “Please do not move before making sure the filling process has been completed. If you want to fill some fuel into a container, make sure you use the safe ones.”
Despite all filling stations in Oman displaying warning signs about the consequences of not following the above recommendations, few drivers in Oman actually follow them, and PACDA and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) are hoping this video will put an end to that.
If you’ve witnessed a fire taking place at a filling station in the Sultanate, please call the emergency services on their hotline 9999 or on their direct line on 24343666.
