Muscat: Being the largest private school operator in Oman, ABQ Education Group is passionate about the health and well-being of the youth in this country and therefore committed as an official partner of this year’s Al Mouj Muscat Marathon. Their aim is to reiterate the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle amongst school going children.
With a few months to go before the race in November, ABQ, in association with the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon, hosted an online competition applicable to the kids’ category participants. The competition entrants had to name their favourite sports star and provide a reason for their answers. Three children were selected to each win a Chromebook based on their answers.
ABQ Education Group Chief Executive Officer, Humayun Kabir, says, “It was not an easy task to choose the winners as the entrants really provided strong arguments to support their choices. Besides the talent and impressive achievements of the sports stars, many children mentioned the characteristics that these athletes display which inspire others and enable them to achieve great heights. The three winners are very deserving recipients of the Chromebook prizes.”
The winner in each age category is:
Age 7-8: Jumana Al Sibani
Age 9-10: Faris Al Lawati
Age 11-12: Deborah Ankita
The Marathon organizer, Sabco Sports’ Managing Director, Nic Cartwright, says, “This competition gave Al Mouj Muscat Marathon children the opportunity to express their passion towards fitness and identify the sportsmen and women all over the world who inspire our young athletes to never quit. It was a great initiative by ABQ Education Group to reinforce the importance of health, sport and fitness among the youth of Oman at grassroots level.”
The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is the most popular event on the national sporting calendar and Oman’s biggest race. The extended entry period allows for even more participants to enter and promises to be the biggest marathon to date. For more information, please visit www.muscatmarathon.om
