16thMay, 2022 was a much awaited day for the young leaders of the Middle Section of Indian School Muscat as they would walk back home with their newly earned title, “Junior Prefect”.In the New Multipurpose Hall of Indian School Muscat, the four House Flagsstood firmly beside the School Flag, corroborating the promise to uphold the pride of the School. The presence of the proud parents and grandparents added to the aura of the Junior Prefect Investiture ceremony.

The thrilled audience were entertained with the video ‘Chance to Lead’ where the candidates for elections of the Prefects, Vice-Captain of the four houses and the Head Girl and Head Boy were presented. The audience was given a bird’s eye view into the process of election, focusing on ‘The Right to contest’ and ‘The Right to Vote.’

The Chief guest Mr. Nilesh Lekchand Khokle, Defence Advisor, embassy of India, Sultanate of Oman, was ushered in by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Chauhan and the Vice Principal of the Middle Section followed by the dignitaries. The Prefects marching in to the drum beat of the school Band was just spectacular. The Head girl and the Head boy together with the team of Vice-Captains followed marching to the slow beatand took their positions on the stage.

The Head Girl designate welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, parents, the students and the teachers to witness the Oath taking and investiture of the Council members and the Class Prefects.As nature holds the key to the student’s aesthetic and cognitive satisfaction the budding writer,Vithun Shankar Arumugam who has published two fiction (Story Books) on Amazon Kindle presented a potted plant to the Chief Guest. The Head Girl Designate promised to continuously endeavor to achieve perfection and fulfill the expectation that would come with being a Student Council Office bearer.

The Oath of office was administered by the Principal, Dr Rajeev Chauhan. The Council Office bearers and the Class Prefects repeated the Oathwith pride.
The Chief Guest then pinned the the Head Boy- Gurjap Singh Dhanoa and the Head Girl- Diya Mehnaaz Jasmine, followed by the House Master of the Red House with their badges of office.

The Principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan then invested the Vice Captains of the four houses. Red House- MayookaManojKandyan, Green House- Ruth Jane Mathew, Yellow House-Evanna Susan Mathew, Blue House- Nabeela Fatima.

The Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals and the Head of Departments invested the Junior Prefects on this solemn occasion. In all, 27 students from class 5, 29 students from class 6, 26 students from class 7 and 25 students from class 8 were invested.

Having been invested, the Head Boy took the pledge on behalf of the Vice Captains and the Junior Prefects, to carry out the duties and responsibilities with courage and conviction to always uphold the integrity of the school.

The Chief Guest addressing the students, faculty, dignitaries and parents through his motivational speech introduced the Junior Prefects, the Vice Captains and the Head Boy and Head Girl to the three Rs of Leadership-Respect, Respect and Responsibility. The 1st R refers to ‘Respect for one’s own self.’ The 2nd to ‘Respect for others’ and 3rd to ‘Responsibility of Action.’

The President of the Indian School Muscat School Management Committee expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all the newly elected leaders and wished them good luck on their new assignment.

Prayer being the focal point of all events of the school, the Vice Principal, Middle Section led the prayer for the newly invested leaders of the school.

The ceremonious occasion came to a close with the Head Boy proposing the Vote of Thanks followed by the students singing the School Anthem with pride.
