Muscat: An Omani student company has invented a device that contributes to rescue fishermen in an emergency case.
"A team from the “Etienne” student company at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar invents a device that contributes to saving fishermen during sea fishing trips. By installing the device in the fishing boat, it sends a distress signal to the competent authorities to initiate the rescue operation when a problem occurs," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.
The innovation, which obtained an intellectual property certificate from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, includes advanced communication technologies via satellite, which allows communication from anywhere on the surface of the earth, water leakage sensors in the boat, and capsize sensors in the event of the boat sinking.
