Muscat: The College of Engineering, National University Science & Technology celebrated its first Research Day on 9th May 2022. This event was led by the Students’ Journal Club operating under a faculty mentor. The objective of this club is to promote the Research Awareness among students through various research activities such as innovative research projects presentations, recognizing the best research papers in each engineering program, organizing awareness workshops on funded Research Opportunities and technical paper writing skills.

The event was inaugurated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Salim Al Araimi, followed by a keynote on “Autonomous Vehicles Concepts and Challenges” by Dr Mohammad Al Dibaja from Advanced Mobility Research Institute, Kanazawa University, Japan. Eight best projects and six best research papers on innovative topics of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Applications in Oil and Gas Industry, Nanotechnology, Polymer Science, Internet of Things, Microbial Fuel Cell, Waste to Innovative Material and renewable energy modeling were presented by the students during the event.

Overall, the event was a great success and offered an interactive platform for exhibiting the innovative research work carried out by the students at the College of Engineering. The Research and Innovation Committee of the college of engineering chaired by Prof Syed Rizwan, Dr. Satish, the chair of the organizing committee, Ms Noura Al Balushi, Faculty mentor for the students’ journal club along with the other organizing committee members were involved in the planning and organizing the event. Finally, the event was concluded by thanking the Dean of the College of Engineering Professor Ahmed Hassan Al Balushi for promoting the research and innovation culture in the college.
