One dead, another injured in lightning strike in Oman

Muscat: A citizen in North Al Batinah Governorate lost his life after being struck by a bolt of lightning. Another was injured and transported to hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

Abu Yazi, the father of the injured citizen, spoke exclusively to  Times of Oman about the details of the incident: “My son Yazi was accompanied by his friend Hazaa bin Saeed Al Shibli and they were in front of Sohar Secondary School in the Wilayat of Sohar in North Al Batinah this afternoon, around 4 pm. A lightning bolt hit their location, which led to the death of Hazaa and the injury of my son Yazi. He was transferred to Sohar Hospital."

Abu Yazi continued: "My son is in good health and will leave the hospital tomorrow morning, according to the specialists in the hospital. We ask God for forgiveness and mercy for the deceased, and our condolences to his family and relatives."
