Oman mediates release of several detainees in Yemen, including from India

Muscat: The government of the Sultanate of Oman has successfully mediated the release of a number of nationals detained in Yemen, based on petitions by the governments of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of India.

Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “ In compliance with the lofty orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, to work to meet the requests of the governments of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of India and the Republic of the Philippines to assist in the release of a number of their nationals detained in Yemen, the Sultanate of Oman has coordinated with the concerned authorities in Sana’a, which thankfully responded to these endeavours, and after communicating with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thankfully, to facilitate the issuance of the necessary permits.”

“Today the released were transferred from Sana’a to Muscat on board a plane belonging to the Royal Air Force of Oman, in preparation for their return to their countries.”
