Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs announced during the meeting of the Permanent Hajj Committee that the Sultanate of Oman’s quota for this year is 6,338 pilgrims, with a reduction of 45 per cent due to the repercussions of the Covid 19 epidemic.
The Ministry said in a statement: “Today, the Permanent Hajj Committee met under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, in which he reviewed the agreement on arrangements and plans for Hajj affairs with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the season of this year 1443 AH.”
“The committee also discussed the preparations for the Hajj season in terms of the readiness of the electronic system for the pilgrims of the Sultanate of Oman, and the time line for the start of Hajj arrangements; It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman's share this year is 6,338 pilgrims, reducing the number by 45 per cent due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic,” the statement added.
