Mazoon Electricity holds workshop on Oman Electrical Standards (OES)

Muscat: Mazoon Electricity (member of Nama group) organised its first workshop for its staff, licensed electricians and construction consultants as part of a series of workshops it has launched on the implementation of Oman Electrical Standards (OES) relating to electrical connections to buildings.

The workshop was organised for the benefit of Mazoon Electricity employees in Al Batinah South Governorate and Al Suwaiq Wilayat to apprise them with the latest update of standard 4 of OES and methods of its implementation, along with discussing existing challenges.

STANDARD OES-4 is a binding specification for electrical installations  in buildings, whether residential,  agricultural or industrial, and other fixed and temporary low-voltage connections. It sets out the technical and safety requirements to be observed by distribution companies, engineering offices and contracting companies when designing, implementing and inspecting electrical installations in buildings.

The first workshop was attended by customer service staff who are divided into three groups over a period of three weeks, while other participants including licensed electricians and construction consultants will attend the upcoming workshops.

The move aims to keep pace with the continuous updates of OES, enhance communication channels with stakeholders using the approved best practices, and identify existing challenges and approaches to address them.

Eng. Khalil Ali Al Qarni, Head of Customer Services in South Al Batinah leads these workshops.
