MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,253.65 points, down by 0.11 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.14 per cent at 483.1 points.

Al Madina Investments, up 8.33 per cent, was the top gainer while, Voltamp Energy, down 9.09 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman Fisheries were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Anwar Ceramics was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 693 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 2.28 million, with more than 13.66 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded securities, 13 advanced, 15 declined, and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR92,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR25,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,743.89 points, down 0.27 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Oman Qatar Insurance, Bank Nizwa, Oman United Insurance, and United Finance were up by 8.33 per cent, 2.99 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Insurance, Global Financial Investments, Ominvest, Oman Arab Bank and Bank Muscat were down by 4.62 per cent, 2.6 per cent, 1.86 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 1.46 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,098.37 points, up 0.32 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, National Aluminum, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Flour Mills were up by 7.92 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.77 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy were the only loser down by 9.09 per cent.  

        
Services Index was up by 0.02 per cent before closing at 1,670.07 points. Prices of OIFC and Al Maha Marketing Shares were up by 2.58 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively. Prices of Sohar Power, Phoenix Power, Al Batinah Power, National Gas and Al Jazeera Services were down by 6.82 per cent, 2.0 per cent, 2.0 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively.
