MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,258.46 points, up by 0.45 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.35 per cent at 482.4 points.

Al Madina Investments, up 20 per cent, was the top gainer while, Raysut Cement, down 10 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 881 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.24 million, with more than 25.54 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 15 advanced, 19 declined, and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR426,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR261,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR165,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,761.88 points, up 0.46 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Oman Qatar Insurance, National Bank Oman, Bank Muscat, and Oman & Emirates Investment were up by 20 per cent, 5.24 per cent, 4.5 per cent, 2.62 per cent, and 1.16 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Global Financial Investments, Muscat Finance, Bank Nizwa, and Ahlia Insurance were down by 9.38 per cent, 4.94 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 2.04 per cent, and 1.33 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,079.08 points, down 1.48 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries and Oman Cement were up by 9.78 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Voltamp Energy, National Aluminium, A'Saffa Foods, and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 10.00 per cent, 9.84 per cent, 8.6 per cent, 6.48 per cent, and 5.00 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.22 per cent before closing at 1,669.72 points. Prices of Al Batinah Power, Oman National Engineering, Oman Telecom, OIFC, and Al Maha Marketing were up by 2.04 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 0.90 per cent, 0.65 per cent, and 0.59 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Sohar Power, National Gas, and Barka Desalination were down by 8.7 per cent, 8.33 per cent, 1.4 per cent, 0.67 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
