Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology seized "foreign land transport", which is transporting goods between two points within the Sultanate of Oman and staying in Oman territory for a period that exceeds the permitted period.
The ministry said: "Within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to regulate the land transport sector and empower the Omani land carrier; the Ministry, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, was able to seize foreign land transportation, which means transporting goods between two points within the territory of the Sultanate of Oman, staying in its territory for a period that exceeded the permitted period, and violating transit permits for the territory of the Sultanate, which is in violation of the Land Transport Law issued by Royal Decree No. 10 / 2016 and its executive regulations. Legal measures are taken in this regard."
The ministry called on companies and individuals benefiting from land transport services in Oman to contract with local land transport, stressing that it is continuing to implement its inspection and control campaigns on foreign land transport to ensure their compliance with the provisions of the Omani land transport law and its executive regulations with regard to their entry into Oman.
